Hey, Welcome to the devotional section of our website. God called everyone to have a personal relationship with Him and that involves reading the bible everyday, figuring God’s plan for your lives. But many times, we don’t know what to read. The bible is so big, it’s hard to find something to read and meditate on. That’s where I come in. My goal is to help other teenagers find scriptures they can read and messages they can meditate on. Life Guide Devotional breaks down the message of the bible and relates it to regular circumstances. So please, study the Word of God with me as we grow together.

Proverbs 15: 1-9

Ther are two contrasts in this scripture: wise or foolish, righteous or wicked. Are you wise? Wisdom comes from God. There are many smart people who are not wise. A wise person knows how to get the most good out of a situation. The dictionary describes wisdom as, "the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true coupled with good judgement." You don't have to be 50 years old to be wise. King Solomon wad a young man when he asked God for wisdom. Are you wise? Ask God for wisdom. The second set of two are the righteous and the wicked. Unlike the dictionary definition, righteousness is not about deeds. It's about surrendering to God. It's about making Jesus your lord, not just your savior. Today's passages show us two contrasts. The fool does not lead a happy life. He stirs up anger and despises teachings. He cannot prosper. The wicked guy is not happy either. His money brings trouble and God rejects his offerings. Today is sunday, and there is no better time to search yourself. Ask God to show you where your heart is. Are you righteous? Have you surrendered to God? Are you wise? God is there willing to grant you His righteousness and wisdom if only you ask.

Just A Little Sum'n Extra

I like to think of Christianity like an army. 2 Timothy 2:3,4 says, “You must therefore endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” We are soldiers in the army of the Lord. Our adversary is the devil and we are told to resist him (1 Peter 5:8). The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy but God comes for the opposite reason: to give life (John 10:10). Ephesians 6, 10-18 tells us how to get ready to stand against the wiles of the evil one. So we are soldiers in this grand spiritual war… how do we become good soldiers? I decided to look at two armies in the bible: Gideon’s Army and David’s army. Both armies that soldiers that were singled out for greatness. In Gideon’s army, there were 300 men who defeated the Mideanite army. They were chosen because of their discipline. When all the other men in the army took off their armour to drink, these men drank alertly, prepared for anything that could come up. These men were willing to listen to God’s battle plan and execute it and they were victorious. Thirty-two thousand men enlisted in Gideon’s army but only 300 were chosen. David’s army is very similar. When he was new to the throne, he had to hide in caves and, “everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him,” (1 Samuel 22:2). These men stuck with David against the Philistines at Keilah. They were outnumbered but listened to God and they won. They stuck with David through the wilderness, accepting persecution from Saul. These men persevered. In 2 Samuel 24, David takes a consensus of his army. He had 800,000men in Israel and 500,000men in Judah in David’s army, and 37 mighty men. What does it take to be a mighty soldier in God’s army? Discipline, perseverance, and listening to God’s voice. Romans 12:2 urges us to renew our minds daily that we may know that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. 1 Corinthians 9:27 teaches us to discipline our bodies. Ephesians 6:18 tells us to persevere in prayer. We are in the army of God; let’s be good soldiers.
